Do you find yourself sorting through your clothes each morning, trying to decide what to wear?
Most people do. It takes some serious mental energy to put an outfit together when you have a lot of options to choose from.
If you’re looking to simplify your life and streamline your morning routine, wearing the same thing every day has some major benefits.
I wear the same outfit every day and have been doing so for the past 6 months or so. It has helped me pare down my closet, simplify my mornings, and ensure that I’m always wearing something I feel good in. It took a little bit of tweaking to land on my personal daily uniform, but now I don’t think I’ll ever go back to trying to wear something unique every single day!
In order to benefit from wearing the same clothes every day, you have to come up with a personal daily uniform that works for you. We’ll discuss how to do that and 5 reasons why you will benefit from it.
How To Decide On Your Daily Uniform
Your personal daily uniform needs to be something that works with your lifestyle, and it may change slightly with the seasons.
I am a stay at home mom, so my current seasonal daily uniform is a T-shirt and jeans. I have two pairs of jeans and six T-shirts that I work through each week. I pair my outfit with either sandals or sneakers.
In the summer, my daily outfit is athletic wear (running shorts & a workout top). Because of how hot it is in Florida, I find it beneficial to wear moisture-wicking clothes on a daily basis.
If you work from home, your daily uniform might be similar to mine. If you work in an office, your daily uniform might consist of slacks and a blouse.
Whatever your working situation is, odds are you are doing the same type of activities Monday through Friday, so you can choose an outfit that works for you the entire week. As a stay at home mom, my daily uniform has to be comfortable and durable, since I have kids tugging on me and I’m cleaning up messes all day. If you work in an office, you’ll need to look professional and presentable, so choose from items that fit the bill.
You don’t need to be choosing a new outfit for each day of the week. Here are 5 reasons why you should consider wearing the same clothes every day.

1. Streamline Your Morning Routine
Whether you’re an early riser or like to stay in bed until the last minute, knowing what you are going to wear each day saves you time in the morning. No more flipping through hangers and trying things on only to feel like you have nothing to wear.
When you have your own personal daily uniform, you can throw it on and go. You know it will carry you through your day and meet your needs.
2. Pare Down Your Closet
This is one of my favorite reasons for wearing the same clothes every day. When you wear the same five T-shirts week after week, or the same five blouses, it becomes very clear to you which items in your closet can go.
If you’re trying to declutter your wardrobe, a personal daily uniform will help you.
Prior to landing on my consistent daily attire, I had so many more shirts and pants cluttering up my wardrobe. Once I started wearing the same outfit 5-6 days a week, I was able to remove so many things from my closet that were not being worn.
I still have a handful of nicer blouses and summer dresses for dressy occasions like going to church or going out on dates, but because I don’t need those items very often, I own far fewer of them. How liberating!
3. Always Feel Good In Your Outfit
Your personal daily uniform is going to be an outfit that you have selected because you love wearing it. By wearing it every day, you will always feel amazing!
It doesn’t have to be the world’s stylish outfit to make you feel good (ahem, remember I wear a T-shirt and jeans everyday). But my jeans fit like a glove and my graphic Ts are cut just right.
Each item fits my body well, and I feel good everyday.
4. Reduce the Desire to Buy More Clothes
Because I don’t change up my outfit from Monday through Friday, I have completely lost the desire to shop for clothes.
Before making the switch to a daily uniform, I was tempted every time I walked through Target. Their clothes are just so cute!
But now, I know that I truly don’t need new clothes and I would wear them so infrequently that the appeal is lost.
Now I only shop when I need to replace something in my closet or have a genuine need. Emphasis on genuine… I used to think I ‘needed’ a bunch of new shirts every time I wandered through the Knox Rose aisle. 😉
5. One Less Decision To Make
You’re busy. I’m busy. Everyone is busy!
We all have a thousand responsibilities each day, from taking care of kids and pets, to meeting deadlines at work, to maintaining our homes, and everything in between.
We have to make so many decisions on a daily basis. Eliminating one of the first decisions you have to make in the morning is a great way to start your day right. Now you can save that brain power for a more important decision – like whether you want to take your kids to the aquarium or the zoo today 🙂

Daily Uniform Tips & Tricks
Hopefully you’re starting to see the appeal of wearing the same outfit every day. Here are some final tips & tricks to help you on your way to nailing down your perfect daily uniform.
1. Consider the climate
This may be an obvious one, but you want to keep your daily outfit versatile. Have a jacket or cardigan on hand that will work with all 5 iterations of your daily uniform if it gets chilly.
My five T-shirts each week are all neutral shades, so I have one cardigan that works with all of them that I can throw on when needed.
If your daily uniform is similar to mine, choose shirts that are in a similar color family (neutrals, blacks, pastels, etc.). That way you don’t need 5 different sweaters to match with each one.
2. Evaluate your physical activity level
If you move around a lot during the day, your outfit needs to be something that can move with you.
I wear jeans as opposed to leggings because I like feeling just slightly more put together. However, my jeans are made of a stretchy material so I can still run around & get down on the floor with my kids easily. The T-shirt works well for a moderately active lifestyle too.
If you’re a corporate executive, you’re probably not very physically active at the office so more formal dress pants and nicer blouses might be more your speed.
Choose 1-2 pairs of shoes that will move with you and work with all five iterations of your daily outfit.
Just make sure whatever you’re wearing is comfortable enough. Life is too short to feel restricted by our outfits.
3. If you sweat or get dirty, keep 5 shirts in rotation and two pairs of pants
I have one shirt for each day of the week, because it’s usually covered in yogurt, snot, or dirt by the end of the day. Moms – you get it.
Your clothes probably stay much cleaner if you work in an office, so you likely don’t need five separate blouses. Two or three would do the trick.
As far as pants go, I find that two pairs of jeans is the perfect number for me. I wear one pair until they get dirty (aforementioned yogurt, snot, or dirt), and then I have a second pair to use while the first ones hang out in the hamper until laundry time.
Two pairs of pants would be sufficient for an office setting as well.
Don't Be Afraid To Tweak Your Daily Outfit
If you decide on a daily outfit and eventually realize it’s just not working for you, don’t be afraid to make changes.
The whole point is to find a daily uniform that serves you. If something is too tight, uncomfortable, or not durable enough to get you through the day, make a change.
It might take a bit of trial and error to find your perfect daily uniform, and that’s okay. My daily uniform was leggings and a crop top for awhile, until I started feeling too casual for some of our daily activities. So I switched to jeans & T-shirts and feel comfortable yet dressed up enough to go pretty much anywhere me and my girls might decide to go!
I hope this post inspires you to start wearing the same clothes every day. I’d love to hear what your personal daily uniform looks like. Let me know in the comments!
